Mary Jo Lasky is a college student from Thornton, Colorado who attended Denver Dance Starz for 14 years as a competitive dancer. She has trained in all styles of dance but has a passion for tap. Throughout the 14 years, Mary Jo has won multiple scholarships as well as Dancer of the Year in 2012, 2013, and three times in 2017 at Legacy, Rainbow and KAR Dance Competitions. She had also taught at DDS for 4 years, ages 2-15. However, she has been a teacher assistant for over 7 years, training under Rachael Harding. Mary Jo has been passionate about theatre as well and has participated in nine school productions, in which five of those she assisted in choreography and led the dance team for each production. Besides her devotion to her singing, dancing and acting career, she also enjoys the visual arts. Mary Jo has competed in multiple art competitions, such as the nationally known 2017 Vans Shoe Art Competition. She also won the highest award at the Adams 12 Art Show in 2013 as well as her gold and silver keys in the national Art and Writing Scholastics Competition.Currently, as a college freshman, Mary Jo is majoring in Visual Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting, while also holding a minor in dance at the University of Northern Colorado. She further wishes to complete a degree in Musical Theatre along with her other current studies. With Mary Jo's passion for tap she is beyond excited about the opportunity to perform alongside such talented dancers at Rocky Mountain Rhythm for being as fresh into the dance community as she is.
